Lakewood
About Lakewood
Lakewood is a suburb that lies west of Denver at the base of the foothills. As a typical suburb, Lakewood has strived to develop its own identity and has created many unique city features.
Without a downtown, Lakewood developed an area known as Belmar. It is a modern downtown area that includes a mix of restaurants, shopping, theaters, night spots and residential living. The architecture is designed after a typical city downtown area.
Shopping areas are abundant in Lakewood. There are large malls located at Belmar Center and at the Colorado Mills. Along Colfax Avenue, there are many unique, specialty shops. On the east side of the city is Sheridan Boulevard which houses a diverse cultural area that includes both shopping and distinctive restaurants.
If out of the ordinary is something that you are looking for, Lakewood has a lot to offer. On the west side of the city, at the base of the foothills, is Thunder Mountain Motorcycle Park where motorcycle enthusiasts can race their bikes.
Casa Bonita is an unbelievable restaurant with an Old Mexico theme. Set in a Mexican village, this restaurant includes a jail, gunfights, and cliff divers. However, Lakewood boasts of many other fine eating establishments including Simms Landing. This restaurant, over looking the city offers both fine dining and a spectacular view of the city.
Lakewood is much more than just this. There are golf courses, Bear Creek a huge park and lake, Green Mountain hiking and bike trails, and many other outside activities.
