Description
Established in 1910, The National Urban League is the nation's oldest and largest community based civil rights organization devoted to empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream. As one of 114 independent, local affiliates, the Urban League of Metropolitan Denver (ULMD) continues to carry out this important mission.
Established in 1946, the ULMD has worked tirelessly to create a level playing field for African Americans and others of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds who reside in the Denver area. At both the national and local level, the focus has broadened to encompass "people of color” in vulnerable educational and economic circumstances, as well as impoverished whites who live in the target communities served by the League.
