Description
Fisher Houses around the world are designed to provide temporary lodging in a "home away from home” atmosphere for families of members of our Armed Services, and veterans while they are undergoing medical treatment in a local medical facility.
Providing a warm, compassionate environment where families and caring friends can nurture one another in a time of need, these houses were given as a gift to the respective Armed Service or Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Denver Fisher House is located on the grounds of the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. It is managed by the Denver VA Medical Center in partnership with the Denver Fisher House Foundation Board of Directors.
The Denver Fisher House is equipped with all the amenities that you would find in your own home. All rooms sleep two or four and rollaway beds and port-a-cribs are available. Each room has a TV, a clock radio, and a telephone for free local calls. Most rooms have a private bath. There are nine guest rooms available; three of the downstairs guestrooms are wheelchair accessible. There is a living room with fireplace and library, dining room, kitchen and laundry facility for all the guests to share.
